Argus is the quintessential American town. In it, Robert Roland "Swiggy" Swiggens, has fallen from grace as a result of a tragic accident for which he felt himself responsible. And anti-abortion activist Jim Putnam, stands on his convictions. These two fall under the microscope of fellow citizens who regularly meet around a round table at Olly's Restaurant. Each of these round table regulars have a proclivity for one of the Seven Deadly Sins. In analyzing Swiggens and Putnam, these roundtablers sift the men through the jaded inclinations of their own inflexible views.
