Softcover, 123 pages. 57 color plates, plus 32 black & white images and engravings. Measures 8.5" X 8.5" (inches). This book is a fine art memorial to Joseph Warren framed by previously published narrative accounts of the events that gave rise to the Boston rebellion. The early portraits of Warren portray him as the genteel Boston physician. During the century following his death, paintings and engravings were made of him as the Major General and martyr of the American Revolution. The modern paintings, some of which have been commissioned for this book, are narrative portraits of Warren as the statesman, revolutionary leader, and fighting patriot. The Boston Rebellion, led by Joseph Warren, began with the Boston Massacre in 1770 and ended at the Battle of Bunker Hill in 1775. At the time, Boston was the revolutionary hotbed in Colonial America; British armed forces had seized the city and Joseph Warren was at the epicenter of the political and armed resistance. The historic accounts in this book are taken from original authorities, eyewitness accounts, newspapers and letters from the time period. For a historic reading experience, the pages are formatted in colonial font and columns.
